18" x 24" pencil, ink, and watercolor on watercolor arch. This was commissioned by a medical student that I used to work with. He wanted a contemporary version of Da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man" so I figured it would be best to reproduce the original and add the DNA helix that gradually made the circle that he stood in. I didn't want to make it too contemporary because I liked the idea of an old washed out sketch that looked like a blueprint, especially since the original is basically discussing the proportions of the human body, I thought the incorporation of the DNA was a fitting touch. Also, the text is italian, written backwards . . . and just to be a smartass, I even signed it backwards . . . sometime's it pays to be left-handed.
Looks great, I like the addition of the DNA too, and the Backwards signature amuses me greatly Very nice job
